Six Sentence Sunday: The first taste of discipline

Good morning, Sixers!  Today’s snippet is from Desire in Any Language, my newest release from Blushing Books.  Our heroine, Mira, has been threatened with her tutor’s “rod of love” school disciplinary cane, and she struggles to make sense of her conflicting feelings toward the possible future punishment.

That night her warning rings uncomfortably in my ears.

“I think we should end today with your first taste of discipline.”

“Oh please no…I promise I’ll be motivated and focused without it…please just one more chance.”

“If we don’t get the first time over with now, you’ll obsess about it for the rest of the week.”

“Oh no, I promise. I swear that, now I know you mean business, the threat will be effective enough by itself. You’ll never have to use it even once.”

A sigh.

“I don’t want you afraid. That’s not what it’s for.”

Blurb for Desire in Any Language:

On her own for the first time, Mira is studying abroad for her translator’s certificate.  Unfortunately, the heady excitement of dance clubs, late-night parties, and endless shopping quickly distracts her from her educational goals.  Mira’s advisor offers her private tutoring with a womanly touch, but the combined pressures of culture and language difference threaten Mira’s progress at school.  She is unable to get her act together until she makes a discovery that horrifies and tantalizes her: in her new country, corporal punishment is a way of life.  The secret to her academic success just might also fulfill her wildest, unspoken dreams.

Sexy.  Seductive.  Dangerous.  A compelling and poignant read.

It’s interesting that her tutor knows she’ll obsess about it if she’s not disciplined. Congrats on your new release!! :)

Starting to fear the “rod of love” myself here, and I am Dominant ! Loved the six and have purchased the book this morning here. Looking forward now to delving into the “rod” and seeing just how Mira copes……. Congrats on the release Ana

I love how you show the thought process and conflict of these feelings. It’s very true to the nature of these things…there’s a journey that has to be had. Congrats on the new release! Great six to show it off. ;)

I loved the growth in her character, the slow realization of her needs.

I can feel the conflict coming from both characters, very well done and I love the cover/title. Beautiful.

Oh Ana – I just finished reading Mira’s journey. It was such an honest look at a young woman’s struggle to understand her needs and desires as well as her search for unconditional acceptance. In answer to an earlier post – she’s perfect, no changes needed.

Thank you for such a lovely journey.

    Blessings,
    Cat

I guess the ‘rod of love’ probably means different things in f/f vs. m/f.

I can understand her wanting a second chance but the instructor does have a point. Great six, Ana, and congrats on your new release.

    OKAY I am laughing at Celeste’s comment….!!
Now to get serious. *SMILE* I am trying here.

I loved those six because sometimes it is so very hard to take that first step. It reminds me of standing on the edge of a diving board…wanting to dive but, oh so scared. Than someone shouts NOW and it was just what you needed to get over your fear. The thrill as you are proud of making it through.

She made the decision for Mira. Great!
