Technical difficulties

Sorry to double-post, but due to technical difficulties (fancy term for “I dumped water on my keyboard like an idiot, and if my computer needs repairs I can’t afford the out-of-pocket expense, so I am using a 6-year-old clunker as long as its dinosaur bones will let me work”) I may or may not be able to get online for a while. Crossing my fingers that things work out. However, if there are no posts, I don’t respond to comments/emails/messages/etc. please be patient.

I leave you in Jade’s capable hands for today, and I hope to check in as I can.

This may be the only time in my life that I admit that I deserve a spanking…

Hence the “rule” I have about not having drinks at the computer desk! ;)

    • Ana January 30, 2013 at 7:13 am Reply

Ok Tess, this was a COVERED glass! Except I thought the lid was on securely…obviously it wasn’t. Boy was I kicking myself. Hope you keep your rule a lot better. :)

Im sorry Ana but that did make me laugh!

I hope you get your computer sorted ASAP ;-)

It’s always funny if it happens to someone else. :P

Oh Sweetie! I am so sorry! I hope it dries out and is ok! Water can be a pest!

We need Mrs. Claus to sort out these naughty computers!

That sounds horrible, hope you figure it out!

Crossing my fingers! Going to give it one more half-day to see how it’s working, and then I’ll either take it in or maybe get a new keyboard.

hehe well good to read you admitting to deserving a spanking :D even if the reason stinks :D

    • Ana January 30, 2013 at 7:15 am Reply

It was a momentary lapse in judgment, not to be repeated. I don’t deserve anything. :P

      • Joelle Casteel January 30, 2013 at 2:08 pm Reply

lol I beg to disagree on deserving :D But then I was just talking in a BDSM group I’m on about how my life as “BDSM erotic romance author” is overtaking my life- so I guess I shouldn’t talk too much about what others deserve :D

Oh no! Hope your computer is okay!

    • Ana January 30, 2013 at 7:15 am Reply

Does your google brain know how to fix this? Sigh.

Sorry to hear that but should be OK once it’s dried out. Turn it up on end for a few days.

    Love,
    Ronnie

Well, it is a laptop and not a desktop, but I hope so. xoxo

Oh no! Sorry for the soggy keyboard, Ana! But, on the positive side, I assume that we’re talking about a keyboard to a desktop computer (so, not a laptop)? If so, those are very unlikely to cause any damage to other parts of your PC and – if it’s still not working after drying out – inexpensive to replace.

    • Ana January 30, 2013 at 7:16 am Reply

No. :( I wish wish wish, but no. Sighhh.

      • Penelope January 30, 2013 at 7:38 am Reply

Ah, boo. Still, all is not necessarily lost – laptops are hardy little things. Would disassembling it be possible? That would make cleaning and drying any wet bits easier. The most important bit is the hard drive, which I’m sure will be fine.

I hope everything turns out alright… right after you get the spanking you say you deserve! lol I’m marking this day on my calendar Ana! :D

Hey! No laughing…YOU are naughty! Hmph.

  11. Penelope January 28, 2013 at 3:25 pm Reply

Oh, forgot to say: you most certainly DO deserve a spanking! BAD Ana! :)

    • Ana January 30, 2013 at 7:17 am Reply

      Hey!

  12. Cat January 28, 2013 at 5:22 pm Reply

Ana dear, you definitely need a spanking for having any type of drink without a lid around your computer. At least it was water and nothing sticky. Hope it was a desktop keyboard that you can just turn over until it dries. If it was a laptop, make sure you pull the battery as well as the wall plug and then turn it over until it dries. Good luck!

    • Ana January 30, 2013 at 7:17 am Reply

But but but…it DID have a lid! I just forgot that it wasn’t secure. Laptop sadly, but I don’t know how to take the battery out.

      • Penelope January 30, 2013 at 7:31 am Reply

The battery should be easy to remove – such things generally form part of the bottom of the laptop case and can just be slid out. There will probably be a slidey catch thing that you need to move into ‘unlock’ position.

I’m a little bit nerd on the sly.

        • Ana January 30, 2013 at 7:34 am Reply

          Macbook Pro…nothing that looks removable?

          • Penelope January 30, 2013 at 7:44 am Reply

            Ah right, a Mac… I’m a PC gal ;)

Same principle, though. There will be a panel of some kind on the bottom and the battery will live behind it. Is this your model? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3053

Poor thing. If we lived closer together I could lend you one of mine. I have at least eight computers of varying OS. No Macs though. Just real computers. :) xox

    • Ana January 30, 2013 at 10:45 am Reply

If we lived closer, I’d borrow your little ones. And protect your elf. Aw.

      And ptthb :P
