O Halloween Tree

Thank you to everyone who participated in Spank or Treat! We had a wonderful team of authors and ambassadors who brought you the fun, and we had a terrific group of commenters. Each time we see more and more faithful VIPs coming back for another round, and we see first-timers excited to discover a new event. We’ll have the ever-popular Love Spanks event in four months, so be sure to spread the word!

Also, I’ll be hosting the second annual Advent Calendar again this year. We’ll have daily posts December 1-24, and you’ll get a chance to win free books from your favorite authors!

In my Spank or Treat story last weekend, I described Karielle decorating a “pagan altar” otherwise known as a Halloween tree.

Soris stepped toward the tree in the corner of their front room, and she lifted a glittery orange-and-black pumpkin paper cutout. Karielle had painstakingly attached a ribbon to the top and hung it on a branch of the tree. The jaunty, toothy grin seemed to mock their sober discussion. Soris slipped the ornament off the branch and turned the paper over.

One of my favorite comments was from Irishey, who pointed out that the poor tree had done nothing wrong but was still banished. Many commenters also enjoyed Karielle’s mispronunciation of “Halloween” as “Hollow Bean.”

Believe it or not, this Halloween tree is real! See for yourself.

Be sure to come back on Thursday for the official prize announcement! Then we can celebrate “Hollow Bean” in style.

We’ve jokingly said we should leave our Christmas Tree up all year round and just change the decorations to match the season (e.g., hearts and flowers for Valentine’s Day, clover and shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day, stuffed bunnies and fancy egg ornaments for Easter, etc.) I love the idea of a Halloween tree, so maybe I need to seriously consider this for next year. I don’t think hubby would let me keep the “big” tree in our living room for 365+ days, but maybe I could do them in miniature.

Now I’m excited to try a Thanksgiving tree, even if I really don’t have a place to store all of the Halloween decorations. πŸ™‚ Karielle is probably jealous of me, but I think Soris is making her happy. πŸ™‚

It was great to have you for Spank or Treat!
