First #Ladylove interview with Cathy Pegau

First Ladylove, an anthology of F/F stories, is now on sale! A few of the authors have answered questions about the stories. Please welcome back one of our favorite authors, Cathy Pegau!

Have you visited Ana’s blog or in Ana’s events before? If so, which ones?

Of course! She invited me to a few Love Spanks anthos and the corresponding events around them. Loads of fun!

If you had to describe yourself using two household objects and one food, what would you choose? Why?

Not sure about the objects, but for food I’d say lemon meringue pie. A little tart, a little sweet, but mostly mushy.

How did you become involved in First Ladylove?

Kate Richards asked me if I wanted to submit. A story, that is.

Tell us a little about your story.

Revelation is a sword and sorcery fantasy. Sahra and Lizbet belong to a rebel group who are opposed to a king taking over lands that aren’t his. After a skirmish, they get stuck behind enemy lines and have to make their way back to give important information to their leader.

What do you hope readers will take away from your story?

Mostly, I want readers to enjoy a brief visit to another world for a little while. And considering that Sahra and Lizbet are more mature, I want readers to see that “firsts” can happen at any age.

If you had to summarize your story in one sentence, what would it be?

Two war-time companions learn there’s much more to each other than they’d assumed.

Most importantly, what is your position on wooden spoons?

Useful. Very, very useful.

After their rebel company is routed by the king’s forces, mage Lizbet and swordswoman Sahra are caught behind enemy lines. Sahra respects the mage’s power but is obligated to protect her as a member of her company and a scarce resource. She also begins to see Lizbet in a way she’d never thought of her compatriot before. Lizbet has always liked the reticent Sahra and is grateful to have the sword swinger at her side. She would like there to be more between them, but they have to survive their trek through enemy territory first. As the two make their way back with critical information for the leader of the rebellion, secrets and feelings are revealed.

Author bio:

Cathy Pegau started writing sword and sorcery fantasy as a teen (MANY years ago), has dabbled in science fiction romance (maybe more than dabbled, as she has 3 SFR novels out), and is currently writing a historical mystery series (no SFF in that one). She lives in Alaska with her family and a houseful of pets.

Hi Cathy, I really loved your story. Well the whole anthology was good actually.
Sword and sorcery fantasy is one of my favourite genres but very little is F/F, so thank you 😃
I really liked the characters and the twist was both unexpected and cool.
