Leigh Ellwood

We begin a new year, and for many that means a new eating plan, diet, etc. I promised myself last year that I would put myself through the torture of a food regimen that deprived me and offered little in the way of results. Just eat less and move more. Easier said than done, but I find lately some things I’ve done on the advice of others have helped improved my mood. Maybe the weight will come, or go, later.

Two things I’ve done: cut out caffeine after 2PM and stop eating after 8PM. Lessening the carbs and trying a different kind of breakfast. If this sounds familiar, it’s adapted from the Bulletproof Diet, which I read this month. Do a search, though, and you’ll find people have adjusted it to their living. One recipe I found, I’ve tweaked and added to my routine. It’s for Morning Butter Tea.

What you need:

1 cup brewed organic tea. Right now I’m using a chocolate Pu-erh tea from Numi, but I imagine you can use other kinds to suit your taste. I tried this because of the health benefits of Pu-erh – it’s supposed to aid in weight loss, but if that’s not an issue use what you like.

1 packet stevia. I use Truvia.

1 tablespoon coconut oil. Coconut oil is supposed to improve brain function, which I need in the morning!

1 tablespoon butter. Not just any kind, though. It’s recommended to use grass-fed butter because it’s better for you. Kerrygold is a popular brand, but if you know of any others I’m interested.

1 tablespoon raw cacao powder. I use Navitas Naturals brand because it’s pure powder with no added sugar. Chocolate is good for antioxidants, so yes it’s health food. 😛

Recipe is simple. Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. I have a Vitamix and usually give it 30 seconds at settings 5-7. It’s important to blend rather than stir because the butter and oil are mixed well and you don’t get the residual oily sensation. Just blend and drink – it’s like a chocolate tea latte!

BTW, here is the video from which I adapted the recipe.

This recipe isn’t relative to any of my stories, but it’s something new I’m trying in order to improve my productivity and mood. I’m not interested in slimming down into a bikini right now, but I want to write more, and write well. The Bulletproof book pointed out ways not only to become fit, but improve the mind. I improve my mind, I improve my stories.

Meet #SciSpanks authors Eve Langlais, Natasha Knight, and Leigh Ellwood

Hi, my name is Eve Langlais and I am a science fiction/paranormal romance writer. For the Sci Spanks anthology, I decided to create something new. Imagine a world with indigo suns, white sands and in the midst of this desert, a compound made of a white marble like stone. The contents are guarded by an alien race and administered by strict inhuman matrons. This most barren of locations is where human females, abducted while still in their teens, are brought and taught the skills needed to make them appealing for auction to rich males. Chosen for their beauty and their healthy genes, under strict guidance, they learn what it takes to become the perfect mate. But what happens when a girl, now a woman, rebels against the one who would own her? And how will she react when he resorts to spanking in a bid to win her obedience?

Choose one or more of the following questions to answer:

1)   In the world you created, what do wish, if anything, could be real, or what are you relieved is only fiction? I think my biggest desire is to have confirmation that alien life and alternate civilizations are real. The universe is huge and wondrous, I’d like to know for sure there is ‘life’ somewhere in the galaxy. As to my relief? I’m relieved in a sense that a breeding compound to prepare human woman for auction as sex slaves and breeding mates doesn’t truly exist. Or does it?

2)   What challenges and/or pleasures have you experienced in writing and appreciating sci fi (or your term)? I love the ability to craft new worlds, exotic beings and societies. There is something innately refreshing about designing new life and then creating rules to govern it. But at the same time creating a believable scenario involving possible alien life with the morals and intricacies involved can be challenging.

Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens J.

I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane…with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.

If you’d like to know more, read some excerpts or find out what I’m working on, then please visit me at http://www.EveLanglais.com or sign up for my newsletter at http://www.evelanglais.com/newrelease. I am also extremely active on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/eve.langlais.98

I am the author of several BDSM and spanking erotic romances all of which explore the mind of the Dominant male and the submissive female, discovering just beneath the surface of each story that key element of love.

I write contemporary, sci-fi, medieval, futuristic (so far) and love the variety. Science fiction has become one of my favorite sort of stories to write because there’s a freedom there. I feel as though when an idea comes, I don’t have to wonder how it will be received – it’s my imagination – especially as I do write very explicit erotic romance where spanking plays a central role, both erotic and disciplinary.

What challenges and/or pleasures have you experienced in writing and appreciating sci fi (or your term)? Examples might be writing as a woman, getting to have more freedom than writing a “realistic” story, etc?

I think it’s freeing. I love that you can go anywhere from the present to some time in the future here on earth to another planet! Shifters with superpowers – both good and bad, dystopian societies – it’s all so interesting and just really freeing. You can write anything, absolutely no rules, with sci-fi.

Natasha Knight is the author of several BDSM and spanking erotic romances all of which explore the mind of the Dominant male and the submissive female, discovering just beneath the surface of each story that key element of love. Her characters are as human as she: powerful but vulnerable, flawed, perhaps damaged but with an incredible capacity to love.

I am Leigh Ellwood. I write smutty stories about people who like getting naked and having sex. Some have more sex than others, some have sex with people of the same gender, some have sex with more than one person, and still others have sex with toys and things that require the use of batteries. My stories range from a few thousand words to well past 70k. I write a variety of genres – MM, FF, MF romance, and more!

Taste Us! You’ll Like Us! Meet Leigh Ellwood and Paisley Brown (Jessica Subject)

It’s Wednesday today! That means only TWO days left until the Love Spanks 2014 fun! Are you ready? We’ve met ten of the authors so far. If you haven’t gotten to read their introductions, you can click on the links below.

Today, we’ll get to meet two new authors. Leigh Ellwood and Paisley Brown (F/F pen name of Jessica Subject) share their favorite recipes, F/F authors, and a bit about their F/F fiction. Enjoy!

Welcome! Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am Leigh Ellwood, and I write romance and erotica. I write F/F, but also other pairings. When I’m not writing I’m reading, or practicing yoga, or knitting.

How did you come to be part of Love Spanks?

Ana invited me to join in on the fun. Since I have new F/F romance coming out this summer, it’s a great time to promote myself.

How long have you written F/F, or when did you first consider writing it?

I have written mild F/f scenes in some of my romance novels, but didn’t write my first full-on F/F until a few years ago. I like to write a variety of pairings, and I supposed I was waiting for the right time.

What are some F/F titles you have written? If you haven’t published or written F/F yet, what are you planning to write?

I have the following available in eBook:

Where Angels Dare to Tread, part of my Dareville series

South of Sundance

Undcover Passions

A Taste of Vanilla

I also have a print collection, She Loves Me, and an anthology I edited called Coming Together: Girl on Girl

What are some of your favorite F/F books and authors?

I’ve enjoyed books by KT Grant and Debra Hyde, and recently enjoyed Every Waking Hour by Paisley Smith.

What would you like to say to readers who are trying F/F for the first time?

If you find a well-written story, enjoy it! Women do fall in love with women, and a story with great characters and a solid plot is one to enjoy.

What is your favorite recipe?

I’m not much of a cook. Some days I just cook up an egg white, top it with mashed avocado, and plenty of salt.

Jessica E. Subject writing as Paisley Brown

Welcome! Please tell us a little about yourself.

Thank you! It’s wonderful to be a part of this event. I’m married with two kids, and live in a small city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. I am multi-published as Jessica E. Subject, with science fiction romance and contemporary romance stories ranging from sweet to erotic. I just started writing erotica as Paisley Brown in 2013.

How did you come to be part of Love Spanks?

Anastasia Vitsky invited me to be a part of the event. I have been involved in other events she organized, as well as other F/F fiction events.

How long have you written F/F, or when did you first consider writing it?

My first F/F story was published in January 2012 with Decadent Publishing. It is part of their popular 1Night Stand series.

What are some F/F titles you have written?

Besides Unknown Futures mentioned above, Never Gonna Desert You is my other F/F story. Plus, Never Gonna Let You Go and Sex Boot Camp (w/a Paisley Brown) have F/F scenes in them. And later this year, Paisley will be releasing an F/F reunion story called Magna Cum Louder.

What are some of your favorite F/F books and authors?

I like to read F/F stories from Kate Richards, Cathy Pegau, Olivia Starke, Alice Dark, and of course, Anastasia Vitsky. Kate Richards was the first F/F author I read, and she helped me in many ways in writing my own stories.

What would you like to say to readers who are trying F/F for the first time?

Give it a chance and be open minded. Love and romance are the biggest parts of these stories. And avoid F/F erotica for your first.

What is your favorite recipe?

One of my favorite things to make this time of year is Souper Skillet Pasta, or as my family likes to call it, Stove-Top Lasagne. Here’s the recipe:

1 pouch    onion soup mix

1 lb        ground beef

1 tsp        oregano

1 can        diced tomatoes (undrained)

2 cups        water

2 cups        uncooked shell/rotini pasta

½ cup        parmesan cheese

½ cup        mozzarella cheese

In a large frying pan, brown beef then drain. Add onion soup mix, oregano, tomatoes and water. Bring to a boil. Stir in pasta. Simmer covered, stirring occasionally until pasta is cooked. (approx. 20 mins.) Stir in parmesan cheese and top with mozzarella cheese.

*I like to add more water and pasta to make the recipe go farther. It means we have leftovers for the next day.

Also include your typical author bio and social media links.

Jessica E. Subject:

Jessica Subject is the author of contemporary and science fiction romance, ranging from sweet to erotica. In her stories, you could meet clones, or a sexy alien or two. You may even be transported to another planet for a romantic rendezvous.

When Jessica isn’t reading, writing, or doing dreaded housework, she likes to get out and walk. Fast. But she just may slow down if there is a waterfall nearby.

Jessica lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and two energetic children. And she loves to hear from her readers. You can find her at jessicasubject.com and on twitter @jsubject.

Paisley Brown:

I’m happily married with a naughty imagination. Sometimes all it takes is a whispered word or a sexy picture to inspire my next tale. My erotica stories may be contemporary, sci-fi, or paranormal, but all of them will leave you wet and panting for more.

Holiday recipes (Advent Calendar, Day 9)

Hello, and Happy Advent. My name is Leigh Ellwood and I write erotic and erotic romance – pretty much every pairing and combination possible. I’m pleased to be part of these festivities and hope everybody is staying warm this month. I live in the South, but am feeling the cold come with a vengeance. I’m grateful to have stocked up on tea and cocoa to get me through.
When I’m not busy writing, I’m plotting this year’s Christmas treats. I usually bake cookies and biscotti – the once a year oatmeal scotchies and peanut butter cookies always go over well here. I also try to make one special treat to share when we visit family. Last time it was pecan pie, and I decided to make this year’s treat more portable.
I love chocolate, especially 70% dark. Doesn’t matter if it’s a bag of M&Ms or a fancy Vosges bar with bacon (you have to try it, trust me), I’ll put it in the stash. Truffles are a particular favorite, though I don’t keep them around because I’ll eat them all. Knowing people are around makes it easier for me to whip up a batch – I’m more mannerly and take only one so everybody else can enjoy.
Here is the recipe I use for dark chocolate truffles. They’re rich and easy to create. It’s a great activity to do with kids, and you don’t necessarily have to roll all of them in cocoa powder. Try some chopped nuts, maybe shredded coconut, or even dip them in white chocolate and make a shell.
Once you have some with a hot cup of tea, why not load up some hot stories on your eBook reader? You’re welcome to try some of my books – check out my backlist at http://www.leighellwood.com and follow me on Twitter @LeighEllwood for updates.
•    Approx. 30 oz. dark chocolate
•    2/3 cup cocoa powder in a small bowl
•    1 cup heavy cream
Chop or shave the chocolate into small bits for easier melting. Take about two-thirds of the chocolate and place in a large glass bowl.
On the stove, bring the heavy cream to a boil, careful not to overcook or scorch. Remove immediately from heat after boil and pour into the bowl. Mix and incorporating the cream with the chocolate until you have a thick ganache. Set aside to cool.
While you’re waiting, put the rest of the chocolate bits into a double boiler, or use a glass bowl to fit over a pot of boiling water. Stir until melted completely and the chocolate has a nice sheen. Remove when finished.
Have a tray or plate lined with wax paper ready for assembly. Using a spoon or a melon baller, scoop out enough chocolate to make a ball shape about one inch in diameter. Roll with your hands, dip in the melted chocolate (you can use a toothpick to enrobe the truffle), then roll in the cocoa powder. Set each truffle on the tray or plate. Repeat, and enjoy!

Today’s question: What is your favorite holiday treat? Feel free to share your recipe or link to the recipe. If you don’t know the recipe, tell us what it looks and tastes like. MM!
